DR. NAUSHAD KARIM

Dr. Naushad Karim – Interventional Radiologist | Innovator | Educator.

Sixth-generation Kenyan and globally trained Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Naushad Karim brings a wealth of expertise and innovation to the field. After earning his MBChB from the University of Nairobi (2009) he  specialized in Radiology at Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi, where he completed his Master’s degree (2016) and later served as Acting Section Head for Interventional Radiology.

After earning his MBChB from the University of Nairobi (2009) he  specialized in Radiology at Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi, where he completed his Master’s degree (2016) and later served as Acting Section Head for Interventional Radiology.

To further refine his expertise, Dr. Karim pursued elite fellowships at some of the world’s leading institutions:

University of British Columbia/Vancouver General Hospital (Canada) – one of the top-ranked Interventional Radiology programs globally.
The Christie Hospital NHS Trust (UK) – Europe’s largest cancer center, where he also earned the prestigious UK FRCR (Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists).
​
A pioneer in minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Karim has introduced groundbreaking procedures such as:

✔ Trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE)
✔ Varicocele & uterine artery embolization 
✔ Genicular artery embolization
✔ Embolization for pelvic congestion syndrome

His career spans continents, with roles as Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Aga Khan University Hospital (Kenya), Tweed Valley Hospital, and Lismore Base Hospital (Australia).​

Committed to advancing healthcare in Kenya, Dr. Karim is the current Section head of Interventional Radiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital, playing a key role in teaching and training  the next generation of specialists.​
